This past month I took some time off to visit with friends and family in Louisiana. Included in this visit was a class reunion of sorts, with 12 close friends that have been together, some as far back as grade school. One is a very talented, soul sister, named Kitty. You enter the home through iron gates to a covered narrow court that Kitty has furnished with some wonderful pieces. I love the lanterns.
Up the main stairway Kitty found this wonderful very old, large trumeau style panel. Even with some small parts missing it is one of my favorite pieces in her home.
In the Living room is one of many fireplaces, this one made on site out of concrete.
Other side of Living room has these great gilded chairs.
This Keeping room off the Kitchen was having some work done to the walls so the furniture was out of place but I wanted to show the Marble fireplace, the mortar wash over the brick wall, and the second stairway. Most of the furniture in this room has slip covers.
I love everything about this Master. Again, work being done in this room as I took the picture. If you look real close up in the right hand corner you can see one of the painters.
The floors are old wood painted an off white and all the colors in this Master are the very soft, pale pinks and blues. Note; you can really see the painter in this photo, but I had to show this fabulous armoire.
The cabinet treatment in Kitty's master bath is as soft in color and as beautiful as the Bedroom. I love how she applied the plaster motif to the door fronts that you can also find over door casements through out the home.
I just had to show you these sweet French upholstered beds that are in one of the guest rooms, I wouldn't have a problem staying here for a night.
This is one view of the bath that goes with the guess room, like I said before I could sure stay here.
I hope you enjoyed seeing Kitty's Home, she is one very talented lady. Please leave your comments I would love to here from you.
I'm speechless! Beautiful, beautiful interiors. I can't even play my game of "If I Could Steal Only One Thing ... " because I can't narrow it down to under five (mostly the mirrors, and that broken panel, damn!). That Kitty, she always deserved a bigger stage for her talents. Better than that, she's got a good friend to blow her horn for her. Good job to both of you.

... and that 'walk around Kitchen sink wall". One of my 'dream' master suites involves that type of room divider. In my case, the headboard of the bed shares the same wall with bathroom lavs on the opposite side of the wall.
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, if that was my kitchen, I'd HAVE to see what's happening on the other side of the wall. Even when nothing's happening. Sort of like when you're being seated at a restaurant, some of the chairs at the same table are deal breakers for that same reason. Something about the need for "vista".

Joy, this house is so beautiful! Tell your friend Kitty that she has impeccable taste. Also, tell her to share her sources with the rest of us! Carol
ReplyDeleteJoy, the house is absolutely fabulous!!! Know it had to be lots of fun to see what your friend had done with it. You have also been blessed with wonderful talents - so I know it's nice to have a friend to share ideas with.

As you know I've always said how talented Kitty is and this proves what I've always known. I've been to her house and it is just gorgeous and I think finally shows how truly talented she really is at last.
ReplyDeleteHer previous home was beautiful as well and the fact that her touches make the home were well observed once she moved out and only the bare house was left. Somehow, it will never be the showplace it was when she had it decorated with her taste and touches everywhere.
You both amaze me when I see how talented you both are and I am sure she appreciates your sharing of her talents with everyone who visits your site.
